First Quarter Financial Performance
The dividend announcement came alongside VeriSign's first quarter 2026 results. The company reported net income of $215 million and diluted earnings per share of $2.34, up from $199 million and $2.10 per share in the same quarter of 2025.
Revenues reached $294 million for the quarter, compared to $271 million in the first quarter of 2025. Cash flow from operations totaled $272 million, down from $291 million in the year-ago period.
VeriSign ended the quarter with $556 million in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities, a decrease of $24 million from year-end 2025. Deferred revenues stood at $1.43 billion as of March 31, 2026, an increase of $45 million from the prior quarter-end.
Share Repurchase Activity
During the first quarter, VeriSign repurchased 0.9 million shares of its common stock for $214 million. As of March 31, 2026, $863 million remained available under the company's share repurchase program, which has no expiration date.
Domain Name Base Growth
VeriSign's domain name base grew to 176.1 million .com and .net registrations at the end of the first quarter, a 3.7 percent increase from a year earlier. The company added a net 2.54 million domain names during the quarter.
New registrations totaled 11.5 million for .com and .net domains during the quarter, up from 10.1 million in the first quarter of 2025. The renewal rate for the fourth quarter of 2025 was 75.0 percent, compared to 74.0 percent for the same quarter of 2024.
VeriSign also announced it will increase the annual registry-level wholesale fee for each new and renewal .com domain name registration from $10.26 to $10.97 effective November 1, 2026.
