Fidus noted that its board reviews estimates of taxable income available for distribution when declaring dividends, which differs from consolidated income under generally accepted accounting principles. The differences stem from changes in unrealized appreciation and depreciation, temporary and permanent variances in income and expense recognition, and undistributed taxable income carried over from the prior year.

The final determination of 2026 taxable income and the tax attributes for 2026 dividends will be made after the close of the tax year. The company said the final tax attributes for 2026 dividends will generally include ordinary taxable income but may also include capital gains, qualified dividends and return of capital.

Dividend Reinvestment Plan

Fidus operates a dividend reinvestment plan that automatically reinvests cash dividends in additional shares of common stock unless a shareholder opts out at least two days before the payment date. Shareholders whose shares are held by a broker or financial intermediary can elect to receive cash dividends by notifying their broker.
