Carnival plc Swings to $258M Net Income in Q1 FY2026

The cruise line operator posted net income of $258 million for the three months ending February 28, reversing a $78 million loss in the year-ago quarter. Revenue climbed 6% to $6.17 billion.

Carnival plc, a global cruise line operator, reported net income of $258 million for the three months ending February 28, 2026, swinging from a net loss of $78 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Operating income increased to $607 million from $543 million, a gain of 11.8%. The company's selling, general and administrative expenses grew to $924 million from $848 million, an increase of 9%.

Carnival generated $1.26 billion in cash from operations during the quarter, up from $925 million a year earlier. Cash used in investing activities totaled $597 million, compared to $605 million in the prior-year quarter. Cash used in financing activities rose to $1.17 billion from $690 million.

The company reported diluted earnings per share of $0.19, compared to a loss of $0.06 per share in the year-ago quarter. Basic earnings per share also came in at $0.19 versus a loss of $0.06.

Carnival's cash and cash equivalents stood at $1.42 billion as of February 28, 2026, down from $1.93 billion at November 30, 2025. Total assets declined slightly to $51.57 billion from $51.69 billion at the prior quarter-end.

Long-term debt decreased to $23.79 billion from $24.04 billion. Total stockholders' equity rose to $13.03 billion from $12.27 billion. The company had 1.24 billion shares outstanding as of the period end.

Depreciation and amortization for the quarter totaled $696 million, up from $654 million in the prior-year period. Current liabilities fell to $12.42 billion from $13.09 billion at November 30, 2025.
