Strong First Quarter Performance

The dividend announcement came alongside Broadcom's first quarter fiscal year 2026 financial results. The company reported revenue of $19.3 billion for the quarter ended February 1, 2026, up 29 percent from the prior year period. Net income reached $7.3 billion on a GAAP basis and $10.2 billion on a non-GAAP basis.

Broadcom generated $8.3 billion in cash from operations during the first quarter. After capital expenditures of $250 million, free cash flow totaled $8.0 billion, representing 41 percent of revenue.

The company returned $10.9 billion to shareholders in the first quarter through $3.1 billion of cash dividends and $7.8 billion of stock repurchases. The Board of Directors has authorized a new $10 billion share repurchase program running through December 31, 2026.

AI Revenue Drives Growth

Chief Executive Officer Hock Tan attributed the strong results to continued strength in AI semiconductor solutions. AI revenue reached $8.4 billion in the first quarter, up 106 percent year-over-year, driven by demand for custom AI accelerators and AI networking products.

Semiconductor solutions revenue climbed 52 percent to $12.5 billion, while infrastructure software revenue increased 1 percent to $6.8 billion. The company expects second quarter revenue of approximately $22.0 billion, representing 47 percent growth from the prior year period.

Broadcom ended the quarter with $14.2 billion in cash and cash equivalents, down from $16.2 billion at the end of the prior fiscal quarter. The company trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol AVGO.
