AMERISAFE Net Income Falls 9% to $8.1M in Q1 2026 as Revenue Climbs

Total revenue for the three months ending March 31 climbed to $80.1 million, up from $72.6 million in the prior-year quarter, a gain of 10%. The company reported labor and related expenses of $8.0 million, down slightly from $8.3 million a year earlier.

Cash and cash equivalents dropped sharply to $34.2 million as of March 31 from $61.9 million at the end of December 2025. The company burned $2.7 million in operating cash during the quarter, compared with a $1.8 million outflow in the first quarter of fiscal 2025.

Cash from investing activities showed a $12.5 million outflow in the current quarter, reversing a $9.9 million inflow in the year-ago period. Cash from financing activities registered a $12.5 million outflow, compared with $7.4 million in the prior-year quarter.

Total assets stood at $1.12 billion as of March 31, down modestly from $1.13 billion at year-end 2025. Total liabilities declined to $876.4 million from $878.9 million over the same period.

Stockholders' equity slipped to $246.6 million from $251.6 million at the end of December 2025. Treasury stock increased to $58.2 million from $54.2 million, reflecting share buyback activity during the quarter. Shares outstanding declined to 18.7 million from 18.8 million.

Retained earnings edged up to $83.3 million from $82.9 million. The weighted average diluted share count fell to 18.9 million from 19.2 million in the year-ago quarter, contributing to the per-share earnings calculation.
